On October 3, Rep. Mike Turner (OH) arranged for a small group of Delphi salaried retirees to meet in Vandalia, Ohio, with President Trump, who was there to make a public appearance. The president wanted to meet with the retirees because Sen. Husted (OH) succeeded in getting a pension restoration amendment into the National Defense Authorization bill that's pending in the Senate.

Rep. Turner told reporters, "It's the first time that we're this close. We have the support of the White House, and the president wanted to meet with these retirees who have been impacted." Turner further explained that the president met with the Delphi contingent, heard their stories, and was impacted by them. He then took to the podium, and made a commitment to "get this done."
