Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) announced the bipartisan introduction of The Susan Muffley Act in The Senate as Senate Bill S.2277 to recover and restore the reduced pensions of 20,000 salaried retirees of former auto supplier Delphi Corporation. The Senate bill was supported by nine original cosponsoring senators from both sides of the aisle, including Senator Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Leader.

Delphi Salaried Retirees Association (DSRA) Chairman Bruce Gump today applauded Congressional Representatives Mike Turner (R‑Ohio), Dan Kildee (D‑Mich.), Claudia Tenney (R‑N.Y.) and Gwen Moore (D‑Wisc.) for their bipartisan plans to resubmit the Susan Muffley Act legislation to the 118th Congress to recover the pension plan for nearly 20,000 Delphi Salaried Retirees. Their pension plan had been terminated in 2009 during the unprecedented involvement of the US Treasury in the auto Industry, and without any representation for the salaried workers.
THE HOUSE VOTE HAS BEEN RECORDED — 254 YEA, 175 NAY — The Susan Muffley Act H.R.6929 has passed, and moves to the Senate.
Thanks to the initiative of Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI) along with Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), Rep Tim Ryan (D-OH), and Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Rob Portman (R-OH), and for the thousands of phone calls and emails submitted personally by the affected retirees to get past this hurdle — at this point a brief celebration is in order, but we are now moving on to consolidate this achievement in the Senate.
