Powerful Ways and Means Committee joins Delphi probe

One of most powerful committees in Congress is looking into how the pensions of Delphi’s non-union retirees were handled. ~ Staff members for the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee are poring over documents from the U.S. Treasury and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. on the disposition of pensions for thousands of Delphi’s salaried retirees ~ Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., requested that the Obama administration provide the records, including e-mails to and from the Treasury Department and the PBGC, as well as the president’s own executive office, Commerce and Labor departments and other agencies ~ The documents were delivered to the committee in recent days.
