Portman Pushes Obama Administration to Examine Treatment of Retired Delphi Workers

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) today pushed the Obama Administration further to look into the treatment of retired Delphi salaried workers during the General Motors bankruptcy. In a letter to Jay Williams, former Youngstown Mayor and now Executive Director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, Portman said he hopes the Administration will remedy the treatment of workers who lost a significant portion of their pension benefits, while other retirees from the same company received far better treatment. ~~ Click here for Sen. Turner Demands Transparency in Delphi Pension Decision

“Your agency neglected that suggested deadline and continues to deprive Congress, Delphi salaried retirees, and the American taxpayer of the answers they deserve.”

Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-3) took to the House Floor to highlight the continued lack of transparency when it comes to Delphi salaried retirees pensions. ~ Immediately following Turner’s remarks on the House floor, he wrote to Joshua Gotbaum, Director of the PBGC, to express his “disappointment in the failure of your agency and Deputy Director for Operations Vincent Snowbarger to produce responses ~ Turner … will continue the call for answers until the full story is told as to how and why Delphi salaried retiree pensions were cut using taxpayer dollars.
