BCBSM Reaffirms that Joining the DSRA VEBA Insurance Plans is a One Time Event

The VEBA team has received inquiries from a few DSRA members asking if they could drop out of their VEBA insurance program(s), should they obtain new employment which offers medical insurance, and then re-enroll if that new employment was subsequently lost. The VEBA team attempted to secure this change for our retirees, but BCBSM has affirmed that – per the contract – they will not allow re-enrollments into our plans under any circumstances.   So our original policy to allow only one enrollment opportunity into the BCBSM plans must remain as is.  We had hoped for a different outcome.
