Your DSRA Benefit Trust recently announced a Life Insurance program through The Hartford that will provide Delphi Salaried Retirees a Life Insurance Program that they can count on in the years to come.

Whether you already have life insurance, or are in need of life insurance, please read this.

Over the past year, we have searched throughout the country to find an affordable program that meets the needs of the Delphi Salaried Retirees.  Our program:

  • Provides Life insurance coverage up to $50,000 with no requirement for a medical exam (during the open enrollment period only)
  • Offers the best rates we could find for group insurance with no medical underwriting
  • Does not depend on Delphi agreements with MetLife, so it removes the uncertainty of how long we will have the life insurance option available under the new Delphi leadership.  This uncertainty was the main reason we searched for this life insurance option for our retirees.

If you do not currently have life insurance, this program offers an excellent opportunity to protect your family at an affordable cost.

If you have Delphi/MetLife, and want to stay with it, you might consider purchasing some amount of the Hartford insurance as a “hedge” against Delphi terminating your plan.  If Delphi terminates the plan, you would have at least some insurance to cover your family if you were uninsurable at the time of termination.

Please note:  In order for The Hartford to be able to offer this program, we need to achieve a minimum enrollment of 1502 Delphi retirees by March 12, 2010.

If we reach the target and the program is offered, all enrollees win.

If we do not reach the required target, there is no cost or obligation for enrollees.   No payment is required to enroll for the program.

We ask you to look over the life insurance literature you have received from The Hartford, and if you have not already sent in your enrollment forms, please consider doing so today!    Timing is critical.  You can enroll by using the enclosed pre-addressed envelope or, better yet, enroll on line.

If enrolling on line, in “My Profile” you can completely disregard the following sections:  Job History, Dependents, Trusts, and Compensation.
