DSRA VEBA OFFERS LIFE INSURANCE TO RETIREES
Enrollment packets for term life insurance are in the mail!
The DSRA Benefit Trust VEBA is pleased to partner with Hartford Life Insurance in order to offer retirees term life insurance coverage.
All eligible Delphi Salaried Retirees – even those with pre-existing conditions – can enroll between February 1st and March 12, 2010 for up to $50,000 at the same rate. During this enrollment period only, such retirees may choose life insurance coverage rates from $10,000 to $50,000 without medical underwriting. Additional coverage amounts from $60,000 to $100,000 are also available, but require medical underwriting approval from Hartford Life Insurance.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer coverage for Delphi Salaried Retiree spouses, their dependents or hourly retirees. We continue to explore life insurance program options for these groups.
This term life insurance offering is an excellent opportunity for eligible Delphi Salaried Retirees. HOWEVER, to establish the program with Hartford, we must enroll a minimum of 1,502 individuals to guarantee viability of the plan. If we fail to do so, then Hartford will withdraw the plan and enrollees’ payments will be returned. Make sure you have coverage with the Hartford plan before you cancel ANY other life insurance plan you may have should you wish to do so.
Please take the time to look at the plans and attractive rates offered. We need your participation to bring this home! Tell your Delphi Salaried Retiree friends! Unlike other plans that may “guarantee no medical physicals” yet deny coverage, there are no questions in the enrollment package designed to eliminate those with pre-existing conditions. The only thing you need to do is sign up during the enrollment period between February 1st and March 12th.
Additional note 1/30/2010:
A self-addressed stamped envelope should have been included in the enrollment packet, but the printing company failed to include the envelope in the original mailing. Due to this error, The Hartford is mailing out a brief letter with this explanation as well as including the self-addressed stamped envelope for participants to use if they choose to enroll using the paper enrollment form. This letter and envelope was mailed out on January 29th. Please recall that this open enrollment period ends on Friday, March 12th.
