HOW TO RECOVER ANY "OUT OF POCKET" BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD EXPENDITURES DUE TO THE ACCIDENTAL CANCELLATION OF SOME MEMBERS POLICIES IN EARLY JANUARY

As you may be aware, BCBSM experienced an internal systems issue affecting some of the plan participants who are enrolled in the “Gold Bundled” plan.  This was caused by insufficient coordination when performing the upgrade to your "Gold Plan" Policies as of 1/1/10. During this time period, you may have had to pay for services or prescription drugs out of pocket at 100%.  The standard process to be reimbursed would be to file a BCBSM claim form, but in an effort to expedite your reimbursement in this special situation, BCBSM is allowing members to fax in their documentation to:  1-866-264-4057

Be sure to write the Full Name of the Retiree and your ID# from your BCBSM card on the fax you send.

For an Rx reimbursement:  BCBSM needs a copy of the Rx receipt from the pharmacy

For a Medical reimbursement:  The quickest process would be for the BCBSM doctor/hospital to re-bill the service and then you (the member) will receive the reimbursement directly from your provider.  If the provider will not re-bill, BCBSM will need a copy of the claim that the doctor/hospital sends in for the service.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We have been assured by BCBSM that this will not be repeated in the future.

Please contact MARSH at 1-877-336-3772 if you continue to have any unresolved issues concerning this matter.
