On May 16 Vice-president Biden stated "We were able to protect the hourly workers. Most salaried workers got their full pensions and most did very well." He admitted that ONLY the hourly pensions were protected by the Obama administration, and LIED by stating that most salaried workers received full pensions.
Bruce Gump responded on WFMJ 21 Youngtown OH to correct the facts for the Delphi salaried retirees.

Vice-President Unbelievably Does Not Know that his Administration Appointed Officials Oversaw the Pension Decision-Making Process
Congressman Mike Turner (OH-3) took issue with Vice President Biden’s comments that the loss of Delphi Salaried Retirees pensions did not come as a result of the auto bailout, and that the Administration doesn’t “control” the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). ~ “Biden’s comments are par for the course with an Administration unbelievably unaware of the own their own decisions and the severe effects they have had across our county." "The Obama administration is doing everything it can to help thousands of Delphi workers who lost their pension and health care benefits as part of the restructuring of General Motors", according to Vice President Joe Biden. ~ Referring to Delphi retirees, Biden said "Some of them got hurt, but the vast majority, because of the federal pension board they have out there to make up differences when companies go under like this, most did fine. But some got really hurt and we're doing everything in our power to provide alternatives to them to be able to make up for the spot they've been in." ~ See the entire report and video …..

The Detroit News | Daniel Howes
The Obama administration's endless election-year touting of the auto bailouts it engineered to save a gazillion jobs in the Midwest and rescue two Detroit automakers evidently doesn't apply to the pensions of 20,000 current and future salaried retirees of the former Delphi Corp. ~ They got hosed ~ How come? The sharpies who called the shots for the Obama Treasury Department won't say. ~ Gotta love it: Employees of what promised to be the most transparent administration in modern times refuse to explain how and why they decided to use taxpayer dollars to favor one group of (union) employees over another. Former Auto Task Force Officials Refuse to be Interviewed by SIGTARP in Delphi Pensions Investigation

The Obama Administration is refusing to discuss how, why, and by whom the decision was made to top up the pensions of Delphi hourly retirees, making them completely whole, and not extend the same treatment to Delphi salaried retirees, whose pensions were reduced up to 70%.
The President's Auto Task Force officials Ron Bloom, Matthew Feldman, and Harry Wilson are refusing to meet or speak with the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) from which funds were provided to bailout GM during the Administration-orchestrated bankruptcy.
SIGTARP believes that the Auto Task Force played a role in the pension decision and these individuals’ failure to speak to SIGTARP on this issue poses a significant obstacle to SIGTARP’s ability to complete its audit.
Today, Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH-3) requested that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee interview these individuals concerning the role they played in the decision to take the retirement and health benefits of Delphi salaried retirees.

One of the most egregious abuses of the Obama Administration's auto bailouts was the blatant favoritism evidenced in the treatment of Delphi ~ retirees. ~ There was no logical reason for one group to have their pensions saved while another group lost theirs, just the facts that the distributions were inequitable and the only difference between the groups was that one belonged to a powerful ally of Team Obama and the other did not. ~ Evidence now surfaces of the Obama Administration rubbing salt in the wounds of the non-politically connected retirees. When the salaried retirees requested help from President Obama to restore their pension benefits, the Department of Labor's Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, Jay Williams responded, ~ "Don't like it? Get a job!"

Last week's earnings report from General Motors revealed a troubling statistic for shareholders. GM's market share for North America shrunk from 18.3% a year ago to 16.7% for the latest quarter. ~ a full 13% of consumers would now "never" consider purchasing a GM vehicle while another 15% are less likely to purchase. A negative perception of the auto bailout process and the continued political overtones at GM are the reasons for the boycott. ~ Many Americans recognize the blatant favoritism that political allies of Obama, like the UAW, have received in the GM bankruptcy process compared to other groups. GM bondholders and taxpayers fared worse than UAW members who not only kept their jobs and benefits, but are now receiving thousands of dollars each in bonuses. The auto bailouts seemed to have an underlying goal of protecting the powerful UAW. Perhaps nowhere else is the blatant inequity evidenced than in the treatment of Delphi retirees. UAW retirees had their retirement benefits protected while non-union retirees lost theirs. Congressional investigations are ongoing in the obviously biased redistribution of wealth that favored the UAW. ~

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: Bruce Gump, Vice Chairman, Delphi Salaried Retirees Association
On February 10th two representatives from the Delphi Salaried Retirees Association met for more than two hours with former Youngstown mayor Jay Williams who is now the Executive Director of the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers. Several requests were delivered to Williams by the retirees and a commitment was made by him to “get back together in about three weeks.”
Sadly, the promised “follow up” meeting which could have taken the form of a simple phone conference was never held in spite of repeated requests by the retirees. This week, nearly THREE MONTHS later a written response has been received that essentially tells the retirees to “go get a job” and only offers the standard resources of the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers.
